I wanted to look at the status of petitions on change.org and the UK parliamentary site regarding pet travel. On change.org, I identified 21 petitions of which 18 are active and on the UK parliament petition site I identified 7 petitions, 2 of which are still active. It should be noted that there are were 15 further requests for petitions on the UK parliament petition site that were rejected.
Petitions cover all types of topics such as ensuring better conditions for pet travel on ferries (cabins and pet friendly areas), allowing pets to travel in air cabins, allowing pets to travel on Eurostar, allowing pets access to motorway service stations, and for access to local public transport. The topic of pet passports and animal health certificates was also commonly raised.
Please look at these and sign as many as you can that you think would be useful.
In total 281500 signatures have been obtained for all these petitions (and some closed ones not presented on this weblink) showing the importance of this question for British residents and travellers to the UK.
It should be noted that UK parliament petitions are only open for 6 months and so the open petition about allowing pets in cabins is a high priority for signature.
